MInT Minister confers with Italian delegation

Addis Ababa, October 31, 2023 (FBC) – The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla has received Italian delegation consisting of the mayor of Bergamo, Giorgio Gori, Rector of the University of Bergamo Prof. Sergio Cavalieri, the heads of industrial and research institutes and a high-level delegation from various institutes.

During the meeting, both dignitaries explored possible cooperation areas to further deepen the relations of Ethiopia and Italy in the fields of university-industry linkages, human resource development, technology transfer and digital transformation.

Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, stated that as Italy is a technologically advanced country, Ethiopia could take many practices and experiences from it. He said that his country is keen to work together on research, technology transfer, university-industry linkages, and digitalization.

Elaborating that Ethiopia is a country with untapped potential, the Minister asserted that Italian companies would massively benefit from this opportunity if they engage in trade and investment sectors.

The delegation expressed that they want to strengthen their country’s relationship and cooperation with Ethiopia in industrial park, IT park, university-industry linkage, technology transfer, human resource development, research and digital transformation, and institutional capacity building.

Mayor Giorgio Gori invited the minister and his delegation to visit the technological and industrial centers in Bergamo.
