MInT announces registration platform for “5 Million Ethiopian Coders” initiative

Addis Ababa, July 24, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) has announced a registration platform for applicants of the “5 Million Ethiopian Coders” initiative, which was launched on Monday by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at the Science Museum.

The “5 Million Ethiopian Coders” program is a collaborative digital skills initiative between the Government of Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates, designed to empower the next generation of Ethiopians to actively participate in the growing digital economy.

The “5 Million Ethiopian Coders” initiative is part of the national Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy, which aims to bridge the digital skills gap.

By 2026, the program seeks to equip five million Ethiopian youth with foundational digital skills in Web Programming, Android Development, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
