Ministry reports one recovery from coronavirus
Addis Ababa, March 28, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Health announced that one patient has fully recovered from the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) reported yesterday four more confirmed cases of the virus, bringing the total number to 16.
However, out of the total cases, the country registered its first patient who has fully recovered from the virus.
Last week, two Japanese nationals, who have tested positive for the virus, were transferred to their country.
The country has been taking various measures to halt the spread of the virus.
It closed schools, universities and land borders as well as suspended flights to more than 30 countries.
It further imposed mandatory 14-day quarantine for passengers and ordered federal government employees, except selected ones, to work from home.
As art of efforts to curtail the spread, 13 main roads in the capital Addis Ababa will be sprayed with disinfectants tomorrow.
Nearly 600,000 infections have been confirmed globally and almost 28,000 deaths, according to figures collected by Johns Hopkins University.
Italy is the worst hit nation with more than 9,000 fatalities, followed by Spain with over 5,000 deaths.
