Ministry posts 93bln birr revenue in 3 months
Addis Ababa, October 17, 2022 (FBC) – The Ministry of Revenue-Ethiopia (MoR) has announced that it has collected more than 93 billion birr in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
Temesgen Tesema, head of the Ministry’s planning, monitoring and evaluation department, said that in the first quarter of the 2022/23 fiscal year, more than 93 billion birr was collected from domestic and foreign trade taxes.
Compared to the same period from the 2021/22 fiscal year, the current income has increased by 23 billion birr, he stated in a quarterly report review.
According to a report by ENA, the Ministry declared that the new technology-based procedures that taxpayers can easily pay taxes is one of the reasons that contributed to the increase in income.
Temesgen also pointed out that the strengthening of monitoring and tight control over counterfeit transactions has contributed to the increase in income.
