Over 425bn Birr collected in 10 months – Ministry
Addis Ababa, May 16, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Revenues announced that it has collected more than 425 billion Birr tax from domestic sources and foreign trade over the last ten months of current Ethiopia Fiscal Year.
In her briefing to the media today, Minister of Revenues, Aynalem Niguse said the ministry collected more than 425 billion Birr of the planned 442.85 billion Birr in the past ten months of the Ethiopian fiscal year.
She said compared to last year same period, the revenue obtained shows an increase of 4.91 billion Birr.
The ministry has targeted to collect 529 billion Birr during the fiscal year and it is performing as planned, she added.
Awareness raising to encourage tax payers discharge their responsibility, increasing digital services, ensuring fair tax and customs administration and other strategies have been put in place with a view to successfully achieve the target, the minister indicated.
According to her, more than 51 billion Birr revenue was collected during the month of April alone, which is the highest in the year, per ENA.
The minister noted that out of the total revenues collected in ten months, 271.36 billion Birr was secured from domestic sources while 153.91 billion Birr from foreign trade.
