Minister of Justice Gedion Timothewos confers with Members of European Parliament
Addis Ababa, June 20, 2022 (FBC) – Gedion Timothewos, Minister of Justice of Ethiopia, during his working visit in Brussels from 15 to 18 June, met and discussed with various officials of the EU institutions.
In his further engagement with the EU parliamentarians, he met Maria Arena, Chair of the Sub-Committee for Human rights, Urmas Paet, Vice-Chair for the Foreign Affairs Committee and Javier Nart, member of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee.
During the meetings, the Minister briefed the MPs about the current situation in Ethiopia, especially measures taken by the government to ascertain accountability on human rights violation committed during the conflict in the Northern part of Ethiopia and the current peace and stability of the country.
The parliamentarians thanked the minister for the extensive briefing and expressed to continue exchanging updates on the current situation in Ethiopia while also expressing interest to work closely to foster the link between Ethiopia and EU Parliament based on mutual interests.
It is also to be recalled that Minister Gedion had met the Carlos Zorrihno, Co-chair of OACPS EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly earlier this week
