Minister of Agriculture confers with business delegation led by former President of Nigeria
Addis Ababa, June 27, 2023 (FBC) – The Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente held a discussion with a business delegation led by the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
In the discussion, the Minister stated that various activities are being implemented to ensure comprehensive benefit by utilizing the vast potential in the agricultural sector.
He indicated that the agricultural initiatives that have been launched are contributing a large part to the growth of the sector in the country.
Wheat production, the green legacy and “YeLemat Trufat” initiatives are being implemented effectively and the private sector has a big role to play in the development of agriculture at the expected pace, it was mentioned.
To this end, the Minister highlighted the country’s enticing investment environment for the participation of the private sector that boosts the sector.
Minister Girma Amente also stated that putting the existing potential into increasing the value chain will make the investment engagement of the private sector effective.
The members of the business delegation said that the potential of the animal sector encourages the participation of the private sector in the country. They confirmed that they have a desire to engage in the sector to seize the vast needs and potentials in Ethiopia.
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed through a social media note that the delegates want to work extensively by paying attention to the gaps in the value chain in agricultural production, especially in the livestock sector.
