Mining companies in Tigray to resume mineral exploration and production soon

Addis Ababa, July 20, 2023 (FBC) – Mining companies which were operating in Tigray are said to resume mineral exploration and production activities soon.

State Minister for Ministry of Mines, Million Mathewos said the mining companies that were active in the Tigray region halted their activities because of the conflict; but, now they are in a position to restart the business in the wake of the peace agreement reached between the federal government the TPLF.

The government has been facilitating enabling situation for the companies who were enaged in exploration and production of gold and inputs of building materials such as cement.

There were companies capable of the supplying up to 900kg gold to nation’s central bank, Million said, adding the resumption the mining activities in the region is vital to stimulate the sector.
