MFA State Minister holds talks with UK, France, Russia ambassadors to Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, January 5, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister Ambassador Mesganu Arga engaged in separate bilateral discussions with the Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France, and Russia to Ethiopia, yesterday at his office.
The meetings aimed to enhance diplomatic ties, exchange ideas on regional security, and explore avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ethiopia, Darren Welch, highlighted the new development in the region. He emphasized Ethiopia’s role in regional security and expanded economic and trade partnerships.
Ambassador Mesganu and the French Ambassador, Remi Marechaux, discussed ways to further support Ethiopia’s ongoing political and economic reforms. The meeting also witnessed deliberations on countering terrorism and enhancing cooperation in areas such as culture, education, and tourism.
Evgeny Terekhin, Ambassador of Russia to Ethiopia, engaged in talks with Ambassador Mesganu about broader strategic issues, including Ethiopia’s role in peacekeeping efforts. Both sides highlighted the significance of deepening collaboration and exploring opportunities for joint training exercises.
The series of meetings further underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to expanding its diplomatic engagement and forging stronger ties with key partners, per MFA Ethiopia.
