Mekdes Shimelis and Belay Ziku emerge victorious at Mechal for Ethiopia 10km race

Addis Ababa, June 30, 2024 (FBC) – Mekdes Shimelis and Belay Ziku emerged victorious at the Mechal for Ethiopia 10km road race held in Addis Ababa this morning. The winners were part of the respective women’s and men’s fields.

Belay Ziku, competing independently, finished first in the men’s race, followed by Getaneh Mola of Mechal Sports Club and Demewoz Bekele, who also ran as an independent athlete.

In the women’s race, Mekdes Shimelis of Tsedey Bank claimed the top spot, with Mebrat Gidey of Bank Sports Club taking second place and Workwuha Getachew from Mechal rounding out the top three.
