Medina Eisa of Ethiopia among 2023 Women’s Rising Star Award finalists

Addis Ababa, November 3, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia athlete Medina Eisa becomes among the three finalists for the World Athletics 2023 Women’s Rising Star Award, the World athletics governing body confirmed.

World Athletics today announced the three finalists for the 2023 Women’s Rising Star Award, which will recognise this year’s best U20 athlete at the World Athletics Awards 2023.

The nominations reflect some of the standout performances that the sport has witnessed this year, at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23, World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 23, World Athletics Road Running Championships Riga 23, one-day meeting circuits and other events around the world.

In that regard, Medina Eisa was nominated for her achievements in the aforementioned events in 2023: silver medallist at World Cross Country Championships U20, sixth place at World Championships 5000m and 14:16.54 PB, and fourth place at World Road Running Championships 5km.

According to World Athletics, the winner of the 2023 Women’s Rising Star Award will be selected by an international panel of experts and be announced on World Athletics’ platforms on 11 December.
