Manufacturing Industries Achieve Over 60% Production Capacity
Addis Ababa, December 26, 2024 (FMC) – Melaku Alebel, Industry Minister and member of the Executive Committee of the Prosperity Party, announced that the production capacity of Ethiopia’s manufacturing industries has surpassed 60 percent.
He highlighted that numerous initiatives have been implemented since the inception of reforms aimed at overcoming challenges within the manufacturing sector and enhancing its efficiency.
According to Melaku, policies are being developed to ensure that the manufacturing industry not only meets domestic demand but also increases export production. He praised the “Made In Ethiopia” initiative as a key factor in driving this progress.
Currently, the manufacturing sector caters to 40 percent of the local market, marking a 10 percent increase compared to pre-reform levels. Additionally, it has created job opportunities for over 156,000 individuals annually, as reported by the Industry Minister.
