Lula inaugurates innovative cultural programme for peripheral areas of Brazil

Moscow, August 30, 2024 (TV BRICS) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and First Lady Janja Lula da Silva have launched a national programme aimed at bringing culture to remote regions and municipalities in Brazil with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.

During a ceremony, Lula and Janja tested one of the project’s innovations, which includes audiovisual studios and mobile libraries using virtual reality glasses.

The initiative will use vans equipped with studios for creating videos and podcasts, an open-air cinema, a mobile stage and other technological resources such as virtual reality glasses, computers and sound systems. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

As part of the new cultural programme, 36 of these vans will be installed to provide access to cultural heritage in areas without theatres and cinemas.

Lula emphasised that this is especially important for those who cannot afford to attend cultural events.

Brazil’s Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, also attended the event and noted that the project strengthens cultural activities in remote areas of the country, giving people opportunities to visit cinemas, libraries and develop other forms of artistic expression.
