Local, international journalists tour reform activities in Ethiopian Federal Police
Addis Ababa, January 23, 2025 (FMC) – A delegation of local and international journalists from various media outlets visited the Ethiopian Federal Police to witness firsthand the reforms and modernization efforts underway within the institution. The tour aimed to showcase the police force’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and skilled personnel to enhance crime prevention and investigation capabilities.
During the visit, Deputy Commissioner General Melaku Fenta, Commander of the Federal Police’s Crime Prevention Department, highlighted the significant strides made by the police force since the reform. He emphasized that the institution is now equipped to proactively prevent crimes and conduct advanced investigations, ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice. Melaku also underscored the Federal Police’s role in upholding the rule of law and the ongoing efforts to establish a modern and effective police force.
The journalists were given a comprehensive tour of the Federal Police’s state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced surveillance equipment, command and control systems, communication radio control centers, and specialized units dedicated to counter-terrorism and drug control.
The tour showcased the police force’s heavy and light vehicles, as well as its investigation units, demonstrating its enhanced capabilities in maintaining public safety and security.
