Addis Ababa, January 30, 2025 – The LG-KOICA Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College in Addis Ababa has made significant strides in providing job opportunities for its graduates both domestically and internationally. The college, supported by LG and the Korean government and people, has trained over 600 students in electronics and ICT maintenance.

At a ceremony where LG East Africa Office in Kenya donated 150 computer monitors for student training, the college’s Project Dean, Tariku Gebremedihin, highlighted the institution’s achievements in skilled workforce production and job creation. He revealed that the college has enabled dozens of trainees graduated from the institution to secure permanent jobs in various countries such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius, Kenya, and Djibouti.

The college provides free electronics and ICT maintenance training to those who cannot attend school, juniors of Korean War veterans, and the disabled. Additionally, it offers students the opportunity to establish their own businesses by teaching them vocational knowledge and entrepreneurship skills.

One of the college’s trainers, Alemtsehay Kassaye, credited the institution with upgrading her skills to create a multifunctional cooker, which has integrated stoves for processing Ethiopian traditional foods.

To cater to the growing demand for skilled workforce in the Republic of Korea, the college is preparing to provide Korean language training to students, enabling them to access job opportunities in the country.

The college is also working closely with the Ministry of Labor and Skills to support national job creation efforts.

LG East Africa’s regional CEO, Donghun Lee, who visited the activities in institution, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the college and its efforts in producing skilled workers and creating jobs in Ethiopia.
