Landslide in South Ethiopia’s Wolayita zone claims 11 lives
Addis Ababa, August 5, 2024 (FBC) – A landslide occurred on Monday in the Tipa area of Kawo Koyisha woreda, Wolayita Zone in South Ethiopia, resulted in the tragic loss of 11 lives, the region’s communication office disclosed, citing local authorities.
According to the report, the death toll may increase further.
The South Ethiopia region communication office issued a warning about the rising risk of floods and landslides in various parts of the country due to Ethiopia’s traditional rainy season.
In light of this, the society has been urged to take necessary precautions to prevent such disasters.
Recall that a similar incident in the neighboring Gofa zone in South Ethiopia region claimed the lives of hundreds.
