Lalibela welcoming local and int’l guests for Ethiopian Christmas Holiday
Addis Ababa, December 30, 2022 (FBC) – The necessary preparations for Ethiopian Christmas celebrations in Lalibela city on January 7 have been completed and guests have started entering the city, according to the City’s administration.
Lalibela City Deputy Mayor and Head of the Office of Culture and Tourism, Deacon Adise Demse told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that preparations for the Ethiopian Christmas are well under way.
Deacon Adise pointed out that more than 1.8 million guests are expected for the celebration of the Holiday.
He added that adequate arrangements have been made to accommodate tourists and visitors in a unique way.
The FDRE State Minister of Tourism, Silesh Girma, on his part, said that apart from working with the media to promote the celebration of the Ethiopian Charismas, a package has been prepared for guests coming to the festival to visit other attraction sites.
In addition to coordinating the successful completion of the festival, the state minister mentioned that temporary first aid centers were prepared. An agreement was also reached with Ethiopian Airlines for additional flights besides to the regular commercial ones.
Silesh said that, invitations were sent to prominent figures, ministers, ambassadors and diplomats of various countries and institutions to attend the Holiday celebration.
He also indicated that the celebration is pivotal to revive the flow of tourists that has been affected by the conflict and Covid-19 pandemic.
Finally, the Ministry invited the local community, the Ethiopian Diaspora and the international community to celebrate Christmas in Lalibela
