Addis Ababa, August 17, 2024 (FBC) – Esteemed Ethiopian long-distance runner Kenenisa Bekele took to social media to share his experience at the Paris Olympics, where he faced significant challenges due to a hamstring injury despite rigorous preparations.
“At 10 kilometers in, the pain became intense, and I thought about dropping out at 15 kilometers. But my love for my country, Ethiopia, pushed me to keep going and finish the race, no matter the pain,” Kenenisa paraphrased.
He emphasized that the Olympics represent more than just medal triumphs; they embody the essence of resilience and determination.
“I’m currently taking time to rest and undergo treatment, and I’m gradually starting to feel better,” he noted.
“Thank you to all my fellow Ethiopians, fans around the globe, and my family and friends for your unwavering support. I raced for you, and I will not give up!” the athlete affirmed.
