Kano, Ogun Regions of Nigeria take lessons from Ethiopia’s best experience on agro processing zones

Addis Ababa, February 11, 2022 (FBC) – Recent visits of senior officials of the Regional States of Nigeria to Ethiopia has attracted attentions of investors to the East African nation and served as an opportunity to take lessons from the country in the Agro Processing sector.

Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hassan Fagge, stated, yesterday, that the state’s delegation was in Ethiopia, in continuation of the study tour to Special Agro Processing Zone (SAPZ) in the East African country to boost the state’s agro processing hub.

“We were in Ethiopia to seek greater cooperation with the country on how to develop our Special Agro Processing Zone.”, he said.

“Kano government is highly committed towards establishing its SAPZ hub at Bagauda to boost its economy, support smallholder farmers and strengthen the drive to attract investors,” Gawuna said.

The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, during the investment tour, met with the Ethiopian Minister of Industry, Ato Melaku Alebal, in Addis Ababa, and sought for area of investment and collaboration between Ethiopia and Ogun, particularly in the area of industry and trade.

Mahmood Abubakar, Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, also evaluated the benefits of and possible collaboration opportunities in the Special Agro-Processing Zones (SAPZs) which are a product of the African Development Bank.
