Japan pledges continued backing to Ethiopia’s efforts in transforming health sector
Addis Ababa, July 2, 2024 (FBC) – In a groundbreaking agreement, Japan and Ethiopia have joined forces to revolutionize Ethiopia’s health system and tackle a myriad of health challenges.
During a high-level meeting between Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba and a delegation of Japanese parliamentarians, the two sides explored avenues of collaboration. Dr. Mekdes Daba expressed her heartfelt appreciation for Japan’s interest in supporting Ethiopia’s health sector.
The minister highlighted the long-standing partnership between Ethiopia and Japan, emphasizing the significant role the Asian nation has played in the implementation of numerous health initiatives in Ethiopia’s health sector through international organizations, such as the Global Fund and GAVI.
As a result of their in-depth discussions, the two sides concurred to work in tandem to construct a robust health system in Ethiopia and address other health issues.
The members of the delegation declared that Japan will collaborate with Ethiopia to increase the production of medical equipment through local manufacturers, health sector financing, digital information management, and other health-related domains.
