Japan-built water supply worth $16mln inaugurated in Bahir Dar City
Addis Ababa, July 13, 2023 (FBC) – Japan’s water supply project worth USD 16 million implemented by JICA in Bahir Dar City has been inaugurated in attendance of high level officials.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of ITO Takako, Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, Yilkal Kefale, President of the Amhara National Regional State, Dires Sahilu, Mayor of Bahir Dar City and Mamaru Ayalew, Head of Amhara Water and Energy Bureau.
The project is said vital to increase city’s clean water supply and prevent water-borne diseases in the area.
According to the Embassy in Addis Ababa, the water project includes well points, pump stations and pipelines, and will benefit more than 150,000 residents.
The Government of Japan has been actively supporting the development of Ethiopia and contributing to the improvement of people’s lives through various schemes, particularly in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure, industry, education and health, Ambassador ITO Takako said on the occasion.
Japan will continue to support Ethiopia’s development efforts through various Japanese Assistance Projects as well as through other modalities of assistance, the Ambassador added.
