IWPG says providing peace education services in 74 countries
Addis Ababa, September 29, 2023 (FBC) – The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) announced that it has been working with women around the globe to take multi-faceted approaches to achieve peace that the world needs.
In a press conference attended by two Ethiopian Media; FBC and OBN, Chairwoman of IWPG, Hyun Sook Yoon, said the organization has set up 112 branch offices in more than 100 countries with a view to promote peace culture worldwide.
“Currently, we have providing peace education services in 74 countries involving participation of women at different levels in the communities. We have so far graduated 80,000 people with peace education. And, our 1,055 graduates are already enaging in voluntary activities dedicated to peace efforts,” she said.
According to Hyun Sook Yoon, IWPG is working together with 600 partner organizations in corners of the world.
“Republic of Korea has successfully established sustainable culture of peace. The education system South Korea had established after WWW II has enabled the country to quickly recover from impacts of the war and ensure fastest social and economic development. We believe in the power of education. That is why we are aspirating to ensure a better world thought peace education,” Hyun Sook Yoon noted.
“We have established strong collaboration with women Ministers of various countries of Africa who are now striving to expand peace education in the continent,” she said.
“IWPG has successfully organized held the 2023 International Women’s Peace Conference (IWPC) on 19 September, 2023 in Incheon, Republic of Korea bringing together thousands of people from various cultural and religious backgrounds. The conference has enabled us to share best experiences among the participants. So, we believe that each participant who took part in the conference will contribute their part in ensuring durable peace in their respective countries,” she added.
On September 19, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) held the 2023 International Women’s Peace Conference (IWPC) under the theme “The Mutli-faced Role of Women for Sustainable Peace” as part of the 9th Anniversary of the September 18th World Peace Summit hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light(HPWL)
During the conference, Women leaders from all over the world discussed the achievements of women’s contribution towards peace over the past years and raised their voices for women to join peace efforts going forward.
