Italy grants €300,000 to IGAD in support of peace process in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, December 16, 2022 (FBC) – The Government of Italy has granted 300,000 Euro to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to support organization’s activity in the peace process in Ethiopia, and stability in the eastern Africa region.
IGAD has played its role in facilitating the signing of the Pretoria’s Agreement between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and TPLF. This demonstrates IGAD’s crucial role in ensuring peace and stability in the reigon at large, it was indicated on the grant signing ceremony.
As Chair of the IGAD Partners Forum, Italy believes that supporting IGAD and all other parties involved in the peace agreement means backing efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in Ethiopia and the region at large.
Italy further reaffirmed that it attaches a particular emphasis to its cooperation with IGAD, Ambassador Agostino Palese said. He further pledged the commitment of his Italy to enhance its relations with the government and people of the Ethiopia.
