Italian Deputy Foreign Minister visits Ethiopian Coffee Training Center
Addis Ababa, March 2, 2022 (FBC) – Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereti visits Ethiopian Coffee Training Center in Addis Ababa which is the first in its kind in East Africa.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials and guests from the Ministry of Agriculture and other institutions, including the Director General of the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority, Dr. Adugna Debela.
During her visit, the Deputy Foreign Minister said; this modern coffee training center, which was built here in the compound of Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority, with the support of the Italian government and the United Nations Industrial and Development Organization (UNIDO) is a sign of strengthening joint development cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Adugna, on his part said that the center will take the coffee sector one step further and will significantly reduce the shortage of skilled professionals in the area. According to him, this will increase Ethiopia’s foreign exchange earnings by exporting Value Addition Coffees.
Doctor Adugna added that the Authority is working in collaboration with various universities and research institutes to enhance the activities of Coffee extension and agronomy. In addition, extensive efforts are underway to work in collaboration with other international organizations and development partners.
