Interference in sovereign nation’s internal affairs is unacceptable: Joint Council

Addis Ababa, October 21, 2022 (FBC) – Interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign country is unacceptable as it is an unjust approach, the Joint Council of Ethiopian Political Parties stated.

The Joint Council released a statement regarding the nationwide public rally themed “We Speak out for Ethiopia”, to be held across the country on October 22 and 23.

The Council, in its statement strongly condemned the position taken by some Western forces to put pressure on Ethiopia.

It further condemned the approach of the United Nations and the European Union Commission to impose sanctions on Ethiopia as it hurts the innocent civilians of the country.

The Council said that meddling in the internal affairs of the sovereign country is not acceptable.

It urged those foreign powers refrain from their current approach and stand by the Ethiopian people to achieve peace and stability.

It also further urged them to play their part to achieve the goal of the peace talks facilitated by the African Union.

The Joint Council has called on Ethiopians to participate in the rally with the slogan “We Speakout for Ethiopia”.

The scheduled public rally is organized by the Joint Council of Political Parties in Ethiopia.
