Institute inaugurates veterinary drugs manufacturing in Bishoftu town
Addis Ababa, April 24, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethiopian National Veterinary Institute has inaugurated veterinary drugs manufacturing plant in Bishoftu town at a cost of 100 Million Birr.
The factory is said crucial to save foreign currency by substituting imports of pharmaceutical products by local produces.
Director General of the Institute, Dr. Martha Yamin, in the inaugural ceremony, said the factory will contribute a lot for the productivity of livestock development sector through production and distribution of veterinary vaccines.
She said the institute has started exporting drugs to abroad and enabling the country to earn foreign currency, adding that it is also conducting research studies to address problems in the sector besides distributing drugs to the community with affordable prices. Ethiopian National Veterinary Institute was established in 1964.
