INSA calls for global synergy to prevent cybercrime
Addis Ababa, October 18, 2023 (FBC) – Director-General of Information Network Security Administration (INSA), Solomon Soka, stated that countries should follow a coordinated approach to prevent cybercrime.
The INSA Director-General said that in a panel discussion on Cyber Attacks and Global Loss, held at GITEX GLOBAL 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Mr. Solomon went on to point out cybercrimes, besides to the huge financial losses they cause to institutions, can also make the institutions lose public trust.
Indicating that psychological warfare through cyberspace is costing countries across the world, the INSA chief emphasized that countries should work together to shake off such sort of heavy loss.
He pointed out that as cyber attacks are growing from time to time, institutions should adopt a people-oriented approach to reduce the risks associated with cybercrime.
At the event, the Director-General also highlighted Ethiopia’s experience in cyber attack prevention. In Ethiopia, proclamations, regulations and other policy options are being implemented to prevent cyber attacks across the country, Solomon asserted.
In the dynamic cyberspace, institutions and individuals should adapt to the new trends of cyberspace and reduce the overall loss that they may suffer, according to the INSA DG.
In that regard, Ethiopia is undertaking research and studies on congruous areas to reduce possible threats in cyberspace, Solomon added.
