Increased participation of Women in agri-business said crucial for sustainable economic growth

Addis Ababa, April 26, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Horticulture Producers and Exporters Association organized a symposium deliberated on how to increase participation of women in the Agri-Business sector so as to ensure food security and sustainable economic growth.

During the symposium held under the theme “Let’s Enhance Women’s Participation in Agri-Business”, participants stressed need to address challenges related to shortage of financial accommodations, and prevalence of conflicts to promote involvement of women in the Agri-Business sphere.

Gender-Stereotype among the community has also been raised as a challenge that hinders women from actively participating. Symposium sought possible solutions to overcome challenges mentioned and increase Women’s participation in the overall socio economic activities in the country.
