IGAD’s Executive Secretary discusses with German’s Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Sahel region

Addis Ababa, April 24, 2023 (FBC) – Christoph Retzlaff, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa and Sahel region at the German Federal Foreign Office has arrived in Addis Ababa this morning.

The Director is expected to held talks with officials of Ethiopian Government, African Union and IGAD Secretariat in Djibouti about the situation in Sudan.

Regarding the situation in Sudan the director has stated that the crisis in country is on his top of agenda, adding that the Fighting in Sudan must stop and political solution must be found.

In his meeting with IGAD’s Executive Secretary in Djibouti, Christoph discussed about the situation in the region, including critical areas of peace, security, migration management and development in cross border communities.

They have also discussed situations in Sudan and the need for immediate ceasefire, humanitarian access; need to avoid escalation and joint pressure for political settlement.
