IGAD reaffirms commitment to lasting peace, harmony in Sudan

Addis Ababa, December 28, 2023 (FBC) – Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu (PhD), extended his message in connection with the New Year and Independence Day of Sudan.

In his message, Workneh said: “The hope for a brighter future burns strongly within us as we endeavour to restore peace and normalcy to the lives of our brothers and sisters in Sudan.”

“The hard-won independence fought for by the Sudanese people stands as a beacon that we must safeguard from dimming. Through the endured trials, the resilience of the Sudanese people shines brightly, reminding us that even this, too, shall pass,” he added.

Workneh further reaffirmed that IGAD’s unwavering dedication persists until lasting peace and harmony grace the lands of Sudan.
