IGAD Mission in South Sudan acclaims Ethiopian peacekeeping forces unwavering determination
Addis Ababa January 2, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian women soldiers under the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan are undertaking their duties effectively with determination to achieve their mission in a very challenging condition, said Brigadier General Ergo Shibesh.
The General Officer of the mission in South Sudan had a discussion with the members of the Ethiopian women soldiers and assessed the performance of the 15th Motorized Battalion female troops who are on duty in Western Equatoria State.
On the discussion, Brigadier General Yorgo Shibeshi, said that female Ethiopian soldiers engaged in the international mission in South Sudan are discharging their duties effectively She highlighted that women are exemplary in the execution of the mission.
The general officer of the mission, on her part pointed out that the participation of women in the United Nations peacekeeping mission is important.
She emphasized that the female members of the army should continue to strengthen their activities and efforts in all aspects.
The battalion’s commander-in-chief, Colonel Kifeyalew Regasa, reviewing the performance of the female soldiers of the battalion, said that the mission has been outstanding and the role of female soldiers shows a successful performance in the last twenty-two months since the troop started its mission in South Sudan.
Colonel Kifeyalew added that the successful activities that the female army members have performed so far indicates that they are physically and mentally ready to achieve more results along with their male colleagues in all future duties as Ethiopian Peacekeppers in the region.
On the discussion, it was disclosed that Ethiopian peacekeeping forces are showcasing a sustained professional ethics, perseverance, and discipline, which can be mentioned as the peculiarity of the Ethiopian Army.
