IGAD Executive Secretary, AUC Chairperson discuss regional peace, stability

Addis Ababa, December 21, 2023 (FBC) – Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu (PhD), had discussion with AUC Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat in Addis Ababa today on areas of shared interest and cooperation.

The IGAD Executive Secretary appreciated the support from the AU as the two are collaboratively working towards regional peace and stability.

“This is part of the regular consultation that the chairperson and the Executive Secretary have on regional issues especially peace and security and how to collaboratively work together,”

Regarding key points covered by the discussion, Spokesperson of the IGAD Executive Secretary, Nuur Mohamud Sheekh, stated: “Sudan is the major concern now and IGAD and the AU are the forefront of mobilizing regional and international political and diplomatic support to secure the peace in the country.”
