IGAD chief advocates for tech-indigenous knowledge integration to combat climate change
Addis Ababa, August 19, 2024 (FBC) – The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, called for a united effort, proposing the integration of modern technology and innovation with traditional knowledge to create resilient communities capable of addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
The IGAD chief made this remark while opening the 68th Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF) in Nairobi, Kenya, today.
In his opening remarks, the executive secretary underscored the importance of strengthening climate predictions and early warning systems across the IGAD region.
Furthermore, Workneh stressed the need for collaborative efforts and IGAD’s commitment to building resilient communities to address climate change.
Over the next two days, participants of the forum will reportedly focus on improving climate predictions and early warning systems while integrating climate information into national policies and development plans.
