IDPs in temporary camps in Dire Roka, surrounding face grave food shortage
Addis Ababa, September 20, 2021 (FBC) – Internally Displace People in temporary camps in Dire Roka and surrounding who fled homes due to terrorist TPLF attacks on innocent civilians said they have now encountered grave food shortage.
The IDPs said their crops have been destroyed by the outlaw TPLF as it was devastated similarly by the desert locust invasion descended on their farmlands last year.
North Wollo Zone Food Security Office Head, Alemu Yimer exclusively told FBC that children and mothers are now exposed to catastrophic health condition due to chronic food shortage they are faced with.
Delivery of life-saving and nutritious foods from emergency warehouse to the displaced in need is impossible due to road blockage brought about by the terrorist group, he added.
Saying that the circumstance is beyond Zonal Administration’s capacity, he called on partners and the international community to address the grave humanitarian situation in the temporary camps of Dire Roka and the environs.
