House declares three-day national mourning

Addis Ababa, July 26, 2024 (FBC) – The House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has declared three days of national mourning for victims of the deadly landslides occurred in Gofa Zone of the South Ethiopia Regional State.

The landslides death toll in Gofa Zone has reached 257 as of Wednesday as search efforts continue for missing victims.

Leaders of several countries and heads of international organizations including the Secretary-General of the UN have expressed their condolences to the people and government of Ethiopia over the consequences of the deadly landslide.
