HoPR speaker calls for collective effort in national dialogue process
Addis Ababa, June 28, 2024 (FBC) – At a consultative meeting attended by members of the parliament, Mr. Tagese Chafo, the Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives of Ethiopia (HoPR), urged stakeholders, including parliamentarians, to fulfill their responsibilities for the success of the ongoing national dialogue process.
The meeting focused on the implementation of the National Dialogue Commission, Transitional Justice Policy, administrative law, and the federal government’s medium-term investment plan, underscoring the significance of collective effort in achieving the desired outcomes.
Mr. Tagese Chafo advocated for the adoption of the National Dialogue Commission’s successful agenda-setting process, which took place recently in Addis Ababa, in the regional states.
He believed that replicating this approach would help strengthen and sustain similar activities in the regions, ultimately leading to the realization of a national consensus. Additionally, the Speaker urged every citizen, including Members of Parliament, to fulfill their responsibilities for the success of the nationwide consultation.
Mr. Tagese Chafo emphasized the importance of implementing the transitional justice policy framework to address recurring conflicts in the country. He also encouraged the regional states to adopt the administrative law, which was developed at the federal level and designed to address issues of good governance nationwide.
