Health Ministry says 10 million people in Ethiopia vaccinated against COVID 19
Addis Ababa, February 9, 2022 (FBC) – The Ministry of Health stated that 10 million people in Ethiopia have been vaccinated against COVID 19.
National Vaccination Campaign Coordinator, Dr. Mebratu Masebo disclosed that the Ministry is working in partnership with various partners to enable additional 20 million people get the jab in the near future.
Saying that people above 12 were the target of Pfizer vaccine, Dr. Mebratu added that students who are learning in secondary schools and universities have been prioritized in the current campaign.
The recent widespread flue like disease in Ethiopia which was locally called as the “new common cold” has been the fourth wave the Omicron variant, Dr. Mebratu said.
A large number of Sinopharm and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been imported and the campaign will take place in farms, market places apart from schools and universities to access greater percentage of the population, Dr. Mebratu noted.
