Health Minister Visits health facilities in Tigray, discusses with interim administration officials
Addis Ababa, March 15, 2021 (FBC) – A delegation led by the Health Minister, Dr. Lia Tadesse visited health facilities, held discussions with interim administration officials and met with IDPs in Tigray.
A delegation that consisted of Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, State Minister of Health, Seharala Abdullahi, and officials of the ministry visited Mekele General Hospital and internally displaced people. The focus of the visits was to strengthen the health services in Tigray and ensure the people have access to essential health services.
The delegation also held discussions with the Tigray Regional State Interim Administration Health Bureau and experts from MOH and EPHI working in the region on emergency response.
They deliberated on the status of the ongoing efforts to restore and strengthen essential health services, positive developments as well as the challenges and gaps in terms of delivering essential health services to the community and to IDPs.
During the meeting, Dr. Lia Tadesse pointed that coordination with other sectors and partners needs to be strengthened. Dr. Lia further noted the ongoing HR support, medicine supplies, equipment, and financial support will continue.
Dr. Fasika Amdeslassie, Head of the Interim Administration’s health bureau, said “the ongoing support from the Ministry of Health is commendable and asked it be continued and strengthened”
