Great Ethiopian Run International 10km named as World Athletics Label Road Race

Addis Ababa, October 8, 2024 (FBC) – The international athletics sports’ governing body, World Athletics, has designated the Great Ethiopian Run International 10 km race, an annual road race held in the Ethiopian capital, among its Label Road Races.

The World Athletics Label Road Race Regulations require races to meet specific standards in terms of course design, participant safety, event organization, participant eligibility, race day procedures, marketing and promotion, anti-doping measures, and environmental impact.

These regulations ensure that races adhere to global best practices, promoting fair competition and safety for all participants.

In this regard, the Great Ethiopian Run International 10km race has been recognized as a Label Road Race in accordance with these regulations, showcasing the event as one of the elite and leading road races in the world.

According to information from the Great Run in Ethiopia, the 24th edition of the event will be held on November 17, 2024, with an anticipated 50,000 participants.
