Grand Mufti extends Eid al-Fitr message, calls for almsgiving

Addis Ababa, May 1, 2022 (FBC) – President of Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, Grand Mufti Haji Omar Idris has extended Eid al- Fitr wishes to all Muslins, calling for almsgiving and unity during the Holiday.

The Grand Mufti underscored that the harmonious coexistence between Muslims and Christians has enabled Ethiopia to overcome the challenges it faced as a nation.

He further urged the Muslims to maintain good practices they were observing during the Grand Ramadan season throughout their life in feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and helping those who are in need.

The Grand Mufti also called on the Muslims to pay Zakat al-Fitr to help the poor get out of begging and celebrate the Eid al-Fitr Holiday in a dignified manner.
