Gov’t translates Procurement & Property Administration Proclamation into braille
Addis Ababa, December 9, 2024 (FMC) – In a move to promote inclusivity and accessibility, the Ethiopian Federal Government Procurement and Property Administration Proclamation No. 1333/2016 has been translated into Amharic and English in braille and made accessible to blind citizens, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The Proclamation was Braille by the Federal Public Procurement and Property Authority (FPPA) to ensure that individuals with disabilities and various segments of society are included in the preparation of proclamations and regulations.
The Ministry of Finance, led by Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide, has urged other government institutions to consider individuals with disabilities when preparing Proclamations, Regulations, and Guidelines.
The Proclamation, prepared in Braille, will be placed at the Ethiopian National Association of the Blind, the Grand Abrehot Library, the Ministry of Finance Library, and other convenient locations to ensure accessibility for all citizens.
In a nutshell, this initiative is said to be a step towards ensuring that individuals with disabilities have equal access to information and are included in the decision-making process.
