Gov’t officials visit progress of Modjo-Hawassa expressway project
Addis Ababa, April 29, 2020 (FBC) – High ranking government officials have visited the progress of the Modjo–Hawassa expressway project.
The 202.6km long expressway is being constructed under four phases.
State Minister of Transport Kassahun Gofe and Director General of Ethiopian Roads Authority Engineer Habtamu Tegegn are among the officials who took part in the road construction site visit.
The construction of the Modjo – Hawassa expressway, which is part of the Addis Ababa – Moyale – Nairobi – Mombasa Transport Corridor, is being carried out with an outlay of 13.7 billion birr, according to the Ethiopian Roads Authority.
Contractors 1 and 2 have completed 88 and 81 percent of the four-lane expressway project respectively, it was learned.
Kassahun pledged that the government will maximize efforts to address constraints in order to expedite the progress of the project.
