Gov’t establishes Aviation Environmental Protection Committee

Addis Ababa, October 31, 2023 (FBC) – A National Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection comprising various stakeholders has been established in attendance of high level government officials, Transport and Logistics Ministry announced.

The State Minister for Transport and Logistics, Dengie Boru and Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, Getachew Mengistie have presided over the formation of the committee.

On the occasion, the State Minister for Transport and Logistics highlighted the significance of the formation of the committee in enhancing Ethiopia’s contribution to reduce impacts of carbon emission on the global environment through implementation of the policies and standards put in place by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and scaling up nation’s competence on the global aviation industry.

The State Minister also stressed the need for the swift operationalization of the committee, calling all stakeholders to contribute their share to this end, according to the Transport and Logistics Ministry.
