Government Needs Further Collaboration with UN to Rehabilitate IDPs: DPM
Addis Ababa, September 24, 2021 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen has said Ethiopia wants to further collaborate with the United Nations (UN) to rehabilitate the internally displaced people (IDPs) and reconstruct infrastructures destroyed by the war.
Demeke noted this on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York while discussing SDGs implementation, humanitarian aid delivery and overall current situation in Ethiopia with the UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed.
He added efforts are being made in rehabilitating IDPs and rebuilding the infrastructure affected by the ongoing war in Ethiopia with own capacity, underscoring the significance of further collaboration with the UN to well address the problem.
Besides, according to the Office of Deputy Prime Minister, Demeke appreciated the wide-ranging UN support to Ethiopia.
