Government, int’l partners discussing recovery and reconstruction activities in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, June 12, 2023 (FBC) – A forum focused on the recovery and reconstruction activities in war-ravaged areas of Ethiopia is taking place in Addis Ababa in the presence high level government officials, Ambassadors of several countries and representatives of international organizations.
It is stated in the panel discussion that a wide range of restoration works have been carried out on health, telecom and other basic social infrastructures in the conflict affected areas.
In her remarks on the discussion, the Health Minister, Dr. Lia Tadesse, stated that the conflict in the northern parts of the country caused a huge damage to the health facilities in Amhara, Afar and Tigray regions.
Following the Pretoria Peace agreement, war affected health hospitals in the three regions have been connected to the health institutions in Addis Ababa for better restoration drive.
Women and Social Affairs Minister, Ergoge Tesfaye (PhD), indicated that women and children are the biggest victims of conflicts in the country, calling women to play their leading role in averting the problem.
Family links are being restored in the wake of the peace agreement and mental health and psychological support has been given due attention among war affected communities, according to officials participating in the forum.
