Government briefs Addis Ababa based diplomatic community on latest developments
Addis Ababa, November 4, 2021 (FBC) – The Foreign Affairs Ministry jointly with the Ministry of Justice briefed members of the diplomatic community resident in Addis Ababa on latest developments.
State Minister of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Redwan Hussein and the Justice Minister Gediwon Timotiewos (PhD) shed light on what is really happening in Ethiopia in the light of the recently declared State of Emergency and related issues.
The clarification is aimed to address lack of certainty among the diplomatic community concerning the declaration and enactment of the state of emergency.
Clarifying the issues raised by the diplomatic community regarding the State of Emergency, the Justice Minister said immunities and privileges of the diplomatic community will be treated pursuant to the treaties and agreements Ethiopia endorsed under the Vienna Convection on Diplomatic relations.
The diplomatic community will be given continuous updates regarding the implementation of the state of emergency proclamation.
“State of Emergency Proclamation Enacted to Avert the Threat against National Existence and Sovereignty No 1/2021” has been issued by the Council of Ministers on November 2, 2021.
