Global Environment Facility commends its ongoing projects in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, August 25, 2023 (FBC) – Director General of Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Getahun Garedew (PhD) conferred with senior officials of Global Environment Facility (GEF) in Canada on the sidelines of the Seventh Global Environment Facility Assembly taking place in Vancouver.
During the discussion, the two sides focused on ways of enhancing cooperation between Ethiopia and GEF.
Getahun reiterated Ethiopia’s unwavering commitment to its ongoing environmental protection endeavors, expressing gratitude to GEF for its continued support to the nations in this regard.
He also called on the GEF officials to support Ethiopia’s efforts to utilize the newly ratified Global Biodiversity Fund and the Plastic Pollution Treaty.
The GEF officials, for themselves, said Ethiopia is close partner of the fund, appreciating the progress of their ongoing projects in the country.
According to the officials, GEF will hold a seminar for English Speaking African countries in Addis Ababa at the end of the coming September.
The GEF Assembly has brought together 1,500 people from around the world, including environmental leaders and managers from government, business, academia, and civil society, including Indigenous Peoples, women, and young people.
