Germany extends €25mln to support drought affected countries including Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, March 22, 2023 (FBC) – The German government has extended 25 million Euros to support people affected by drought in Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Sudan.
The support has been provided to the beneficiary countries through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
According to the FAO report, the drought in East Africa has caused food insecurity, and left 22 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan to urgent humanitarian assistance.
FAO pointed out that many livestock have died and thousands of people have been displaced from their homes due to the drought.
It is said that the financial support will make a significant contribution to the access to humanitarian aid rehabilitation works in drought-affected areas, benefiting a million people in need.
