GERD generates 411GWh power in 3 months
Addis Ababa, October 14, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopia Power Plant Operations Executive Office has announced that the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) contributed 10 percent of the total electricity generated in the first three months of the ongoing fiscal year.
According to Ms. Tiruwork Shiferaw, the planning manager of the office, out of the 4098 gigawatt hours of energy generated in the first quarter of the fiscal year, GERD has generated 41GWh.
The two units that started generating power recently have a capacity of generating 375 megawatts each, and in the first quarter of the fiscal year, they were able to generate 411GWh of power and put it into the national power grid, according to Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP).
