France’s support for the maintenance of Lalibela Rock Hewn Churches commendable: Amhara Chief Admin
Addis Ababa, March 28, 2024 (FBC) – Chief Administrator of the Amhara Regional State, Arega Kebede, commended the continued support of the French Government to the region in the a wide range of development endeavors including the maintenance of the Lalibela Rock Hewn Churches, one of Ethiopia’s UNESCO inscribed tourism sites.
Chief Administrator Arega conferred with the Ambassador of France to Ethiopia, Rémi Maréchaux on ways of enhancing development cooperation between the French government and the Amhara Regional State.
The French government has continued its unwavering support to activities in the tourism, health and other significant sectors.
Arega cited support from the French government in the maintenance of the historical Lalibela Churches and restoration of Dessie Hospital as some of commendable assistance being provided by the French government to the region.
The Chief Administrator called for continued and strengthened humanitarian assistance to people in the region affected by manmade and natural disasters.
Ambassador Rémi Maréchaux confirmed that his country will continue supporting efforts by the regional government to increase agricultural productivity, among others, through provision of improved seeds and other significant technologies.
He also said that France’s support in the areas of heritage conservation and maintenance, health and other development sectors will continue to grow.
